Linda Gray, known worldwide for her award-winning portrayal of Sue Ellen Ewing on “Dallas,” decided to use her talent and celebrity to help the cause of women’s rights. Linda followed in the footsteps of the late Audrey Hepburn, and was named Ambassador of Goodwill for the United Nations Population Fund. She also took on the role of Chairwoman of Face to Face, a UN affiliated organization that champions universal access to health care, education, employment opportunities and gender equality for all women. Linda and other “Celebrity Ambassadors” visit places and people that are in need. On her mission to Nicaragua, she created a powerful documentary film for the United Nations on women and children’s health issues. Linda has also produced and directed a two-hour documentary about the Los Angeles Mission Women’s Shelter.

“When The United Nations invited me to work as the UNFPA ambassador I was honored, and at the same time, concerned. Global population must be stabilized, but how do you tell a woman in a developing country that the one act which gives her life value must be re-examined? Do we have that right? Or should we say; We have a responsibility to help her have a healthy baby and provide education and opportunity that will add even more value to her life. These issues need to be discussed by women and men around the world and my role is to meet people, listen to what they have to say and see what we can do to help.”
