Louise Cadwell
Louise Boyd Cadwell is co-founder of Cadwell Collaborative: Sustainability Education and School Design, in St. Louis, Missouri. She and her colleagues in St. Louis have pioneered best practices that lead toward vital new ways of learning and living in schools for almost two decades. As a teacher, researcher, and consultant, Louise works with schools throughout North America as well as internationally. Much of her work is supported by her study in the schools of Reggio Emilia. Italy. Her recent work focuses on Education for Sustainability as it leads children and teachers to imagine and create a healthy and hopeful future. Systems Thinking and Asset-Based Thinking have transformed her way of working with teachers and children.
Louise earned a M. Ed. In 1976 from Lesley University and she received her Ph. D. from Union Institute in 1996. Louise is the author of Bringing Reggio Emilia Home: An Innovative Approach to Early Childhood Education, and Bringing Learning to Life: The Reggio Approach to Early Childhood Education, and co-editor of In the Spirit of the Studio: Learning from the Atelier of Reggio Emilia. Louise serves on the advisory council of The Chicago Organic School Project and the advisory council of The Center for Children's Learning in Portland, Oregon.
